  • PROJECT AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS FOR CONSTRUCTION MONITORING TO IDENTIFY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE DESIGN MODEL AND AS- INSTALLED CONSTRUCTION WORKS.

As-Built Validation

                          


Use BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ to identify correspondences and differences between a point cloud and design model in a matter of minutes instead of days.


• An accurate As-Built Model is a common requirement at handover to the Owner. Often the requirement may actually be for As-Built drawings. However, drawings often come directly from the design model.

•  In many cases, a design model is used for the as-built handover model. This often does not accurately reflect what was built on site as many changes may have been made without updating the original design. A 3D laser scan of a constructed facility can be used to check if an as-built or design model matches what was built. 

 


Scan-to-BIM Validation

                                                  


Using BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ during a Scan-to-BIM workflow will enable designers to model check as they work so that they can be certain that their model is an accurate reflection of the physical reality to an agreed tolerance.


•  Validation of a BIM model generated from a 3D laser scan point cloud is important to ensure that a model accurately represents what exists in reality. Scan-to-BIM modelling errors can cause problems and add unnecessary cost and delay to a project. New designs may not fit or may clash with existing items. Models generated from scans are typically generated manually by tracing over the point cloud. This is a very tedious and error prone process. 

•  Validating a BIM model generated from scans without BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ is costly, subjective, and time consuming because user must manually navigate through a model and point cloud to find model errors. Many errors can even go unfound. 

 

Asset Model Validation

                                                  


Each colour in the BIM & Scan AutoCorr™Output File represents a different IFC classification, which enables users to not only check dimensional accuracy but also correct classification.

• BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ Output Files can be opened directly in design authoring tools such as ArchiCAD® and then viewed along with original Design Model for direct comparison and investigation. Automated colorization per IFC model object type allows the Operations team to quickly confirm that assets of interest have been correctly modelled and classified. 

 

 

Construction Monitoring 


Using BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ improves the construction monitoring process by reducing the risk of potential issues going unnoticed. 

• The Construction Manager needs to have certainty that field clashes can be avoided. Ongoing use of BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ provides a cost effective and timely risk mitigation strategy for projects. Contractors want to avoid unnecessary issues, costly change orders,  rework in general, etc. BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ is an accurate method of using data capture in conjunction with the model to monitor what is being built on a construction project.

• Using BIM & Scan AutoCorr™ a user specifies a tolerance and all variations exceeding this tolerance will be automatically highlighted in red in the resulting Output File.  Differences between a design and what is being built are discovered early before they cause a field clash with resultant delay and cost.
